Our Founder
Gerald Walker serves as president and CEO of Interactive America, Inc. a globally recognized nonprofit focused on Community Development, Housing, Job Training, Health and Community leadership. Recognizing the critical partnership between community and business, and the impact of those partnerships on overall organizational success, Interactive helps Business leaders invest in their community partnerships by providing research, thought leadership, and Public Private Partnerships to service disenfranchised communities.
Gerald founded Interactive America in 2000, after having served the Crown Heights Local Development Corporation in Brooklyn NY as a member of the leadership team for five years. He has overseen a period of remarkable growth and change, helping Interactive America, Inc. expand its leadership voice and build a scalable model of program delivery that has resulted in an important growth in the number of clients served. Gerald has launch several program initiatives including the Veterans Village, IA-Café, IA-Technology Center, and IA-Shop which provides Jobs, Housing, Training, and Healthy lifestyles.
With 20 years of executive leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, Gerald has worked closely with community boards and volunteers in providing disaster recovery services to communities nationally and has cultivated deep expertise in fundraising strategy. He has served on many advisory committees and panels, including Medgar Evers College CUNY and the Congressional Black Caucus. Under his leadership, Interactive America has steadily grown to be recognized as a community change agent.
Gerald’s undergraduate work includes Information Systems Management from New York University.
